Since the end of the economic boom in the late 1990’s, it has become increasingly difficult for individuals without a high school diploma or GED to find jobs — and all signs suggest that this trend is here to stay. To address this issue, LaGuardia Community College created a new program, the GED Bridge to Health and Business Programs to better prepare students to pass the GED exam and to help them to continue on to college and training programs. A rigorous evaluation conducted by MDRC found that one year after enrolling in the program, Bridge students were more than twice as likely to have passed the GED exam and three times as likely to have enrolled in college as students in a more traditional GED preparation class. In this webinar, you will hear more about the program, the features that contributed to its success and the evaluation results.
